Point Of Sale Metalwork
POS Displays Manufactured for Fortnum and Mason in London.
We were tasked by a customer with manufacturing a large quantity of point of sale displays in a short lead time. Our past experience has prepared us well for such scenarios. Our in complete in house solution allowed us to turn around this job in a matter of days ensuring our customer delivered on time, in budget and with a quality item. Having a complete in house production solution was the only way this would have been possible. Our in house design team, laser cutter, press brakes, welders and powder coating teams were all utilised to ensure this order went out on time.
The Process
Here is how we did it:
Firstly the customer issued us with the concept design. We then worked with them to develop that design so that it would be better suited to production. Once this was all signed off by the customer the design was converted into drawings that our machinery can understand.
The profile outlines were then send to our laser cutter where they were precisely cut from sheet steel. Once cut, the blanks were sent across to our CNC press brake to be bent into the required shape. The press break uses male and female tooling combined with pressure to accurately and repeatably bend the blanks into shape. Our system uses CNC control and a manual operator to ensure consistency.
These press formed parts were then moved to be welded. Using TIG welding, the pressed parts were welded together to form the finished item. All welding at our facility is a manual process using jigs to ensure the finished parts are precise and accurate.
Once welded the fabricated parts were moved over to our purpose build powder coating facility. Here we use a constantly moving line to suspend parts as they travel through the painting process. Firstly an operator hangs the items to be painted on the line, these then travel into the powder booth where an electrostatic process covers the part in powder. After this the items travel into our oven where they are baked at approx 180 degrees Celsius for around 10-15 minutes depending on paint and material thickness. Once the items were painted they were packed and shipped off to our customer.
